Cosplay

I have just moved so, sorry for the massive delay in an update.

I finally figured out a way to attach my wings to my body. I just have to actually put them together now. In which I need to get the motivation. As for the dress that I need to make. I have no idea wear to start. I am debating whether or not I should make a sword. If I do, I plan to get a slab of foam, cut out the sword shape and then paper mache it.

DIY stuff has been basically put on halt while I am unpacking. I have yet to use my new sewing machine, because I do not have an iron or a board. I might be getting those today. Who knows…

A better update later, I promise!

Sewing and Knitting

I guess I will start out with writing all about my craft stuff my boyfriend bought me for Christmas and the Sewing Machine my mother bought me.

Crafty Holiday

This is all of my lovely fabric and notions my awesome boyfriend bought me for Christmas.

Cheapo Sewing Machine

This is the el cheapo sewing machine my mother bought for me. She purchased it from Wal-Mart. I hate giving Wal-Mart money… Oh well, it is the thought that counts. I am just happy I have my own sewing machine!

I knitted a hat with my looms. I think I am going to add cat ears to it, so I will post a picture of it when I am done.

Now, on to what I am knitting others! I am knitting my boyfriend a Ninja Turtle for Valentines day. Here is the linky http://knittedtoybox.blogspot.com/2008/04/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-tmnt.html This blog has other free knitted toy patterns. They are all super cute. >.<

My mother’s Birthday is in like 2 days, so I think I am just going to knit her a bunch of tiny hearts using a pattern I found on the blog Mochimochi Land. She has bunches of free patterns, and she sells some patterns too! I think my mother would love the little hearts.

Somewhat Starting on My Cosplay

Today was a very mild day considering it was ten days into the month of December . I have been waiting for a 60-70 degree day to trim my feathers, and with living in NC, I knew I wouldn’t have to wait too long. That is exactly what I did today. I spent the better part of 2 1/2 hours trimming feathers for my angel wings. I have a bit of a minor injury associated with my feathers. My right ring finger knuckle hurts quite badly, making it just painful enough for typing to be tedious.

To the feathers! Mmkay, I will start with showing a picture of one of the best feathers I received and one of the worst.

Beauty and the Ewww...

There were not any other feathers that looked like the worst. If fact, not many feathers even came close to looking that bad. On a scale from one to ten, one being the ‘eww’ feather, and ten being the immaculate feather, most of the feathers I received were around 7.75 or 8. After I trimmed them, you could barely tell the 7′s from the 10′s. Here is a picture of a trimmed feather.

Well, now that I have my feathers trimmed, I have no idea when I will actually make my wings. I hope it will be soon.

Plushies, Headaches, and MORE

I am currently constructing a plush cloud. It has a cute little “:3″ face on it. I am still in the process of sewing the two sides of the cloud together, but I will certainly post the finished product! Either my boyfriend or my brother said it looked like a Mario Cloud, but that certaintly wasn’t my expectation. I just wanted a cute little plush cloud with a “:3″ face on it. >.<

Last Wednesday I was diagnosed with Cluster Headaches. I have been dealing with them for about a year undiagnosed. I am currently on a blood pressure pill that I only take during my clusters. While doing some research on CH’s, I found a website that particularly caters to people diagnosed with CH. The website was very informative, although, it did scare me a bit on the pain aspect of my headaches. I am sure glad that my headaches aren’t as bad as other peoples are. ^^;;

I have a current obsession, Japanese fabric, it is so cute! All of the cute little designs, mushrooms, and animals, really make me want to spend $14.00 a yard on kawaii fabric. The shipping fees are outrageous, so I would love to wait until I finally take my trip to Japan. I somehow doubt I will be able to wait that long. (2-6 years is a long time to wait for an obsession.) I will eventually break down and buy some. I just hope I pick out a project first…

Oh, and I just bought a book! “Martha Stewart’s Homekeeping Handbook The Essential Guuide to Caring for Everything in Your Home.“ It is just splendid! It has everything I would ever want to know about cleaning and caring for my new apartment. The $45.00 price tag is nothing compared to what my phone bill would be. Now I have a book to consult, and I won’t have to call my mommy!

Perspective (K)Nerdy Knitting Projects

Prospective projects are always hard to plan. When you don’t have a strong enough motivation to pursue a project, you don’t usually get it done. I really hope that is not the case for this project! I want to knit an 8-bit Mario. I am thinking of knitting the individual pixels and then sewing them together. I think it will give off a great effect! I also want to do this with the Magic Mushrooms, Koopa Troopas, Goombas, Question Blocks, and many other Super Mario Bros. knits. The great thing about these projects is, they don’t use that many different colors! So, hopefully, it won’t be too advanced.

I also want to do something crafty with the entire first level of Super Mario Bros. I could always knit a very long scarf, but I kind of want to make it into a blanket. I don’t know if the blanket idea is really going to work, since the image is so long. Black Friday, Cosplay, and Animazement!

My boyfriend and I decided we were going to Target for Black Friday shopping. They had seasons of “House” on sale for dirt cheap, and they had a 20 pc. Kitchen Set for $49.99. These items were the only things we had on our list. Doors opened at 6:00 AM, we got there at 6:15 AM. We rush to the kitchenwares section, and…the Kitchen Set was out of stock. Disappointed, we make our way to the Electronics section. While we were making our way over to the Electronics section we see the exact Kitchen Set sitting in the middle of the Door Mat aisle. I like to refer to this as Black Friday Miracle Number One. After we find our Kitchen Set, we decide to just get in the line for the check out, as the Electronics section was packed. While we were in line (the line the stretched around the store) we found the first two seasons of “House” laying on a shelf behind the Tide laundry detergent. That was Black Friday Miracle Number Two.
After that, we went to Sears to look at the flat screen televisions. (We call it S.A.R.S. because the “E” fell off. =D) We actually ended up buying a television for less than 1000 bucks. So that was great! A Sony 40″ 1080p!

I finally recived my feathers from Rainbow Feathers. They look great! I am very excited about starting on my wings. Oh, and I am now officially Animazement Staff! Go me! I am really excited about this, I don’t feel like I fit in with regular cosplayers so this should help me meet smart otaku!

Oh, and William and I are locked in at our new apartment! He will be moving in on Feburary 1st. I shall be moving in on Feburary 23rd! It is a very nice apartment in Cary, NC. I can’t wait to be out of Fayetteville!

I am so glad that my feathers are finally coming! I ordered them via email somewhere in the August month. Turns out they lost my order! D= I kinda forgot about them until now… my bad. I called them up about a week ago and the lady apologized up and down. She remembered talking to me, but I guess she forgot to process the order. I will definitely tell everyone about the quality of my feathers, and who knows I might even do a tutorial on my angel wings! >.<

Beginner Fingerless Gloves Pattern

Beginner Fingerless Gloves

A very easy pattern for beginners. Wonderfully simple, and time efficient!

Knitting Needle: US Size 13
Yarn: Lion Yarn Brand Wool-Ease (about $6.50 a ball), or any other Super Bulky weight yarn.
Notes: You will get about five pairs of gloves from the ball, so I suggest making a matching hat. Or, you can make all of your friends matching pairs!

Cast On 16 stitches (Make sure you leave an 8 inch tail)
Rib Stitch in a Knit 2, Purl 2 Pattern for 2 ¾ inches. Or about 7 rows.
Stockinette Stitch for 3 inches. Or about 8 rows.
Ending with a Knit Row, Bind Off
Make sure to leave a 6 inch tail of yarn after you cut your work away from the ball.

Finishing!
Fold your piece right sides together. Taking the tail of your Cast On and an embroidery needle, sew up the side for 3 or 3 ½ inches. Then taking the tail of your Bind Off and an embroidery needle, sew down the side for 1 ½ or 2 inches. Try it on to make sure your thumb fits comfortably. If it doesn’t, add or subtract stitches until it does. Secure the tails so they don’t weave out. (I just tie I really good knot.) Turn right side out, and TADA!

Repeat for second glove.

I got my inspiration from this youtube video (Really I just bumped up the yarn and the needle size, and made it shorter >.<)
